When the Stars Shine Down

Barriers were broken,
No secrets were withheld,
Not because of the rules of the game,
But at the pleasure of the company.

Late at night,
Sleep at bay,
Amidst laughter and silent revelations,
A dance under the moonlight.

Who knew this is how it would be,
When the bottle was swiveled,
To pick its victim.

Is it a tryst with the Truth,
Or a silent plunge into the feral,
To Dare the destiny.

Who knew this is how it would be?
Was it the fulfilled desire,
Wished upon a shooting star?
Or was it the blessed yearnings,
Of Two hearts in Love?

When the stars shined down,
By my side, I saw love,
Surrounded by friendship.

When the stars shined down,
I knew I was not the same,

When the stars shined down,
I knew things would not be the same.

When the stars shine down,
Our smiles were brighter,
Even to the envy of the stars.

The Naked Face

Respectable in the circle of intellects,
Charismatic till the lights are on,
Receptive when the audiences applaud,
A perfect gentleman in a social setting,
Shrewd administrator in opinion of his colleagues.

The world is a stage,
And he entertains a constant audience,
And so he keeps his mask on,
Not many acknowledge, the stranger he sees in the mirror,
Not many recognize, the man behind the mask.

But when you kiss,
I need you to know that,
Whenever you kiss,
You kiss the man behind the mask,
You kiss My Naked Face.

The Other Side of Me

Drowning helplessly,
But watching you breathe.
Playing hide and seek,
But never to be found.
Acting everyday,
Though it isn’t my profession.
A gentleman’s suit,
To bury the bruises beneath.
Crying in the rain,
To hide the tears.

Too sad to live,
But too broken to die.
Struggling to barely get by,
But somehow the strength to carry on.

Anarchy devours me,
Let us small talk and pretend,
Everything is just fine.
Why show everyone,
The Other Side of Me.

The New Hustler In Town

Her head buried in her hands,
Face covered in makeup,
An identity concealed between her legs,
Her body was a testimony of passionless exploits.

Clothes shredded at the sight of men,
Alcohol to cradle her to sleep,
As she gave in to urges,
Suppressing the tidings of love,
Every morning the mirror faithfully displayed,
The reflections of a lost soul.

Closing her eyes every night, to find love,
She woke up every morning, in the bed of heartless men.
With no recollection of the love she once had,
She was The New Hustler In Town.

The Grave

You had the grave dug out,
You wrote the dirge yourself,
You announced the date for all to attend,
The pyre to minimize the residue,
A devious attempt to make me rest in peace,
As engraved in the stone above the head,
After all the arrangements you have made,
Why do you look so surprised?
As I walk into My Own Grave.

The Punishment

Unfaithful to him,
He had to punish her,
He would love her no more,
The punishment meant hardly anything to her,
In fact a relief, to detach herself from him.

Receptive to the handsome and the young,
Love was postponed to another day,
Handsome men replacing good looking ones,
Dates, drinks, parties and lust,
The day would go on forever,
And the night would never end

When the first hair whitened,
And the first wrinkle appeared,
The first man left.
As time took toll on her youth and beauty,
The way she left them,
Men left her for a better one.

Alive but lifeless,
Surrounded by so many, but still so lonely,
Lustful life but a loveless one.

In darkness and in solitude,
She realized how grave The Punishment was.

The Old Ways

Go back to your old ways,
Forget what I made you,
Lose yourself everday,
A little more every night,
Through doors to the legs,
Legs back to the door; let them walk.
Names, addresses and numbers
Obscuring your inamoratos love.

Make up to conceal your sins and vice,
Pretty dress to hide the flaws to look nice,
Hat to hide the evil thoughts in your head,
Stockings to hide your legs whereabouts,
In another mans bed.

Trade in love as if it were stuff,
Old habits die hard,
I know you always prefer The Old Ways.
